The Association of Dominican Classical Artists (ADCA) | New York, NY.

Founded in 1980 by musicians and composers of Dominican descent living and working in New York City, the Association of Dominican Classical Artists (ADCA) has as its mission to:

  • Foster appreciation in the United States for the art and folkloric music of the Dominican Republic;
  • Create performance space for its artist members;  and,
  • Bring live performances and classical music education to communities with little or no access to both

Perry Cook recently joined the cast of Libertaria, playing various roles, including sharing the lead male role of Simeon with talented musician Matthew Meadows.

You can check out some of the latest test animations for Libertaria: The Virtual Opera at Moviestorm. Moviestorm is a machinima program that allows animators/artists to manipulate virtual characters in a virtual environment. While limiting in some ways, Moviestorm is a great way to visualize an idea quickly for a project.

We are using a combination of programs, including Moviestorm, for Libertaria: The Virtual Opera. You can check out some other great links to animation test for the sci-fi opera here:

Moviestorm – spenayoung’s Channel.

We are also looking for animators for Libertaria animation production which will begin in Summer 2012. Click on the “join the crew” page to find out more!

Talented singers Gretchen Suarez-Peña and Kate Sikora lend their voices for this quick animation test for the contemporary opera Libertaria: The Virtual Opera. They sing an excerpt from Baby Machine, with the character Lucinde singing to her mother long-gone.

Hello Everyone!

“Libertaria: The Virtual Opera” needs a team of talented Moviestorm assistant animators to help make this opera a reality. This is volunteer and all animators receive full credit and publicity for your part with Creative Commons licensing for work created for the opera (commercial or noncommercial).

We are in the middle of music production. Animation production will start this summer (2012) once the music production side is complete. The first screening will take place in 2013.

If you are interested in volunteering for Libertaria, please contact me via: spenayoung@gmail.com

The fall has been an exciting time for Libertaria: The Virtual Opera. The Libertaria opera cast has been busy rehearsing music for large numbers like “Pilar of the Underground” and Simeon’s solo piece “Metal Ink,” a jazzy tune about a genetic serum. Hey, it is sci-fi!

We have a new member added to our Libertaria cast, talented singer Demetri Cosmic Subayar, who has worked with Wynton Marsalis and has appeared before President Obama at the Kennedy Center. Check back for Demetri’s cast member page later this month. In addition to cast members, Libertaria: The Virtual Opera has a few new crew members added to the production team, including Art Director Carol Damien, Audio Assistant Patrick Neher, and talented singer and Sound Designer Eve Klein. Production pages will be added soon to the opera website giving Libertaria fans a new look into the exciting members of this great project.

Libertaria: The Virtual Opera is still in need of extra hands in animation and sound design. If you are interested in volunteering for Libertaria: The Virtual Opera, please e-mail the composer at spenayoung@gmail.com under the subject heading “Opera Crew”. Music production will continue from now until May 2012, with animation production starting in full swing about March 2012 to December 2012. First screenings of Libertaria: The Virtual Opera are scheduled for 2013.
